Mattia porcellato

Having grown up in the middle of Verona and Venice in the Asolo Hills, Mattia had food in his blood! His Mamma runs a 3 generation restaurant in Italy and his Papa a 2 generation winery specializing in Prosecco.
He attended school at the istituto alberghiero G.Maffioli one of the best in Italy.

Mattia worked for Fior, a famous company in the Veneto region and his master teacher was Nino Baggio owner of Locanda Baggio which was on the Michelin guide for 4 years. He also has seasoned experience with Christian Rindler, chef of Norber Niederkolfer which has 2 Michelin stars.
He arrived in Sydney in 2009 and worked at the likes of Uccello and Cucinetta, some of Sydney’s top Italian restaurants.

His cooking at Figo is inspired by his Nonna, where for him is the inspiration for the best food ever!
At Figo Mattia wants to give diners the same experience as what he got from his Nonna’s traditional cooking – simple Italian food using the best and fresh ingredients.
